Europa Press publishes an article about Beridi

Europa Press has published an article about our technology for installation of floating wind turbines and the success of the testing campaign we have undergone in 2021 (go to article).

“The Spanish company Beridi successfully completes the tests for its floating wind platform for deep waters.

The Spanish company Beridi has successfully completed the tests for its floating wind platform for deep waters carried out by experts from the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics of the University of Cantabria, a world leader in carrying out this type of test,  asthe company reported.

Specifically, the tests have consisted of simulating the maximum foreseeable wave, wind and current conditions at the site where the demonstrator prototype will be installed in the Canary Islands in 2022.

The floating platform developed by Beridi, called Triwind Floater, is a cost-effective, safe and industrially viable solution for exploiting the wind energy of deep waters that represents the 80% of the total, where wind blows more steadily, with much higher velocities and where the conventional bottom-fixed technology cannot be installed.

The Spanish engineering firm, which mother company is BerenguerIngenieros, has patented a disruptive concrete-based floating platform that enables the installation of the biggest turbines – >15 MW and the size of the Eiffel Tower –in a safe manner and with savings of up to 50% of the total costs of the platform compared with competing technologies, highlights the company.

Beridi´s project has received 2.65 million euros of public funding (national and European grants) and the investment commitment of up to 4.8 million euros fro the European Investment bank. The company is now preparing for the construction of the first real-scale prototype in Gran Canaria.”
