Completion of tests in the Large Tank for Maritime Engineering of Cantabria

Beridi has successfully completed the tests in the Large Tank for Maritime Engineering of Cantabria (CCOB – Cantabria Coastal and Ocean Basin), thus fulfilling another key milestone of the ARCHIME3 project. After the success of the previous validation stages, these tests had the objective of endorsing the great performance of its floating platform (Triwind floater), whose 1.5MW full-scale demonstrator prototype will be installed next year at the PLOCAN facilities (Gran Canaria).

The tests, carried out by IH Cantabria experts, world leaders in carrying out this type of test, aimed to simulate the limit conditions of waves, wind and current at the site where the demonstrator prototype will be installed. Therefore, very hard sea conditions have been simulated which, extrapolating to the commercial scale of the floating platform, would be equivalent to the most demanding climatic conditions of the North Sea.

The tests have been carried out successfully and the results of tensions in the mooring lines, accelerations and heeling have been especially satisfactory, all of them being below the admissible values.

With these tests, Beridi concludes the validation studies of the hydrodynamic behavior of the platform-turbine assembly and is already facing the last stage before starting with the construction and installation of its first real-scale 1.5 MW project, which will allow us to reach the market of the floating foundations.
